Eat Green Challenge + Ideas for getting started

I love a good festive challenge and with it being March, and green sprouts popping up everywhere, I was inspired to make this month’s healthy lifestyle challenge a challenge to eat more GREEN foods.

From fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds (pistachios and pumpkin seeds, hello!) there are plenty of options but I know I sometimes get stuck in a rut. Sometimes, I even go a few days without eating anything green!!! Maybe you do too? We can do better for our bodies!

Reasons To Eat Greens Daily

Let’s revisit why eating greens is worth the struggle, I mean effort: Green foods have tons of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals that our bodies need and use daily!

All this to say, eat more green foods and see how your body feels! Like everything though, you don’t have to go crazy on it overnight. Just work in a serving at one meal each day and then add on from there. If you’re already a regular green-eater, keep going! Maybe you could try something new that’s green!

Easy “New” Green Sources

From my health coaching experience, these are often surprisingly tasty green foods my “new to green foods eating” clients have enjoyed:

  • Sugar Snap Peas

  • Baby Boo Choy (and regular if you can’t find it)

  • Pumpkin Seeds (roasted and salted is fine, but raw are great in a snack mix!!!)

  • Tropical Green smoothies with baby spinach (with frozen pineapple and mango and coconut milk, yum!)

Seeing Progress is the Best Motivation!

I’m using this tracker to keep myself reminded to eat green every day this month and it’s exciting to color in a green shamrock! You’re welcome to download a copy for yourself or for each kid! The more they’re involved, the better! There’s a lot of great community posts in the Healthy 365-ers Facebook group too and it’s a great place to get support and inspiration.

I’d love to see your green eats and your tracker filled in at the end of the month! Be sure to post in the Healthy 365-ers Facebook group or post and tag me on Instagram! Happy eating green!
